Matthew Smith of Greenbox, a maker of web-based energy management systems for homes, sat down with me at the company’s San Bruno based headquarters to discuss how his team plans to change our energy consumption habits, save us money and save the planet. By providing an “energy dashboard” for homes, he claims the company offers consumers the potential to reduce electricity bills by 10-15% by taking small, easy steps.
Founded by a team of tech leaders of Flash/Macromedia fame, Greenbox has been featured on the front page of Entrepreneur Magazine and in San Francisco Magazine.
Matthew Smith and I also discussed:
The impact of Google’s Power Meter launch on the startup
The Obama administration’s stimulus package, its focus on smart grid, alternative energy and efficiency; and how Greenbox aims to get a slice of the action.
Partnership with Precourt Energy Efficiency Center at Stanford University
Matthew’s MBA in sustainable management degree at the Presidio School of Management and how that equipped him for the job.
His advice for green entrepreneurs
